Lead Photographer and Co-Owner of ESI Media, Steve started shooting on a Canon AE-1 in high school during the '90s. A student of the Strobist school, Steve draws inspiration from photographers like David Hobby, Joe McNally, Drew Gardner, and Chase Jarvis. Steve is a die-hard Canon enthusiast and recently moved up from an EOS 50d to an EOS 5d mkII. Steve's professional training began with off-camera flash lighting. He keeps his Alienbees monobloc flash heads around at all times and pulls them out when the opportunity presents itself.. While he maintains an impressive collection of professional light modifiers, he's not above using white trash bags as diffusion scrims, or empty iced tea cans as snoots. (Snoot being Steve's favorite photography term.) Steve currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He travels at any opportunity and takes his camera everywhere. Alaska, Australia and California have filled his viewfinder in the last few years and the Caribbean is calling. Steve brings boundless energy to his photography. He cannot be bored while his camera has a charge, and he cannot be distracted once a task is before him. His recent personal projects have centered on scratching at the boundaries of portraiture, but architecture, product photography, head-shots and weddings all tug at his questing lens. |
